The results from the South Park 20 mile race that took place earlier this month have just been released with three members representing the club.

This included Kevin Tatham (2:56:46) and David Stothard (3:40:14). Unfortunately, Kirsty Cameron had to withdraw part way through the race. This was not before completing a number of laps of the course in 1:41:57, an excellent effort.

On Wednesday 12 April, 12 members took part in the Darlington Trail Series Race 2 with the 5k trail run at Locomotion.

Those taking part included Gareth Hamblin (22:18), Dave Blewitt (23:31), Daniel Tatham (24:11), Tamara Kirk (25:52), David Stothard (27:30), Yvonne Blewitt (30:20), Samantha Harding (31:43), Eve Doe (33:57), Cliff Pickering (376.13), Tracey Pickering (36:29), Rob Nicholson (38:23) and Ian Stothard (41:09)

On 16 April, two members took part in the Yale of York 10 mile race at Rufforth in North Yorkshire. John Surtees completed the event in a time of 58:52 finishing fifth in the Men’s Over 35 category. Tracy Surtees completed the course in a time of 1:09:20, finishing first in the women’s over 35 category.

On the same day, three members took part in the iconic Manchester Marathon. This included Richard Trowles (3:30:38), Daniel Tatham (4:21:18) and Carley Gibson (4:29:48). A special mention for Carley Gibson who achieved a new personal best for the distance, knocking over 40 minutes of her previous best, an amazing effort.

Also a special mention for Daniel Tatham, who was on track for a new personal best before being impacted by injury after 15 miles. Daniel showed bravery and determination to keep going, even when getting blisters and managed to keep going for another 11 miles. Sometimes, running is not about times and it is about showing resilience and determination and being an inspiration to us all like Daniel and we are confident he will set a new personal best next time.

On Saturday, 26 members started their weekend with a parkrun taking in the Brockwell Park, Sedgefield, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Wetherby, Wepre, Monaghan Town, The Pastures and Wynyard Woodland events.

At Hackworth, Susan Clark completed her 50th run at this course finishing in a time of 35:53. At Wepre, Carley Gibson continued with her parkrun tourism as preparation for Manchester Marathon, finishing in a time of 41:13.

Angela Sutheran took part at The Pastures for the first time, finishing in a time of 27:19. At the same time, it saw the first ever Wynyard Woodland parkrun with Paul Dalton (21:16) and Jayne Rudd (40:23), competing in the inaugural event.
