Razor sharp new internet solution for companies on Aycliffe Business Park

Companies on the North-East’s biggest business park can now access exciting new wireless technology which provides cost-effective super-fast internet access with speeds of up to 1,000 MB.

North East IT firm Razorblue, which has a track record of more than a decade of solving problems, has invested heavily to provide the new service to benefit firms across Aycliffe Business Park.

Many companies in certain areas of the business park have long had problems with their internet because of the high cost of dedicated leased lines and limited access to super-fast fibre connections.

But now Catterick-based Razorblue, which also has offices in Wynyard, Leeds and London, has come up with a cost-effective solution.

The IT geeks have already installed a state-of-the-art rooftop point-to-point wireless internet solution at the Xcel Centre, which is at the heart of Aycliffe Business Park.

Razorblue has solved similar problems for industrial estates and business parks across the north – including Stockton’s Bowesfield Business Park, Calder Park in Wakefield, Escrick Park, Shires Business Park in York and Colburn Business Park in Catterick.

Similar to issues on Aycliffe Business Park, companies did not have access to cost-effective business-grade service to suit their heavy usage.

Prior to Razorblue’s intervention, their only option was to order a fibre leased line. That would have proved both costly and taken a considerable time – often months – to install.

The service will provide cost-effective business-grade internet connections. Super-fast symmetrical bandwidth for download, as well as upload speed, is complemented by 24/7 monitoring.

And as part of the service level agreement, Razorblue’s local engineers will be on hand should an issue occur.

“The service will be live and available to all businesses very soon,” said Razorblue managing director Dan Kitchen.

“There’s a simple one-off installation cost and – as with any internet connection – a monthly fee. Except this delivers much higher speeds and uses tried and tested rooftop wireless technology, rather than cables in the ground.

“It’s been great to help the team at Xcel Centre and it’s also a major step in solving a lot of other people’s issues as well.”

Xcel Centre managing director Kerina Clark, who’s also chair of Aycliffe Business Park Community, said: “What I liked about Razorblue is that they listened and came up with a solution to meet our needs.

“The added value, of course, is the potential benefit they are bringing to our fellow residents on Aycliffe Business Park.”

Razorblue was set up by managing director Dan Kitchen when he was just 16. It began as a cloud hosting business – and still works with some of its early clients – but has gradually evolved. Now it offers expertise in managed IT support, cloud, superfast connectivity, telecoms and bespoke business software.

Last year the company celebrated its 10th anniversary and opened a new office at Wynard Park, and it now employs 45 across its four sites.

Kitchen said: “Although our passion is IT, we recognise that it’s just one of many business functions for our clients – albeit an increasingly important one.

“Most of them don’t need to know the nuts and bolts of how we are going to provide them with the service they require. They just need to know that it will work, that it is value for money and it’s reliable.”

Businesses can find out more about Razorblue’s new super-fast internet service at Aycliffe Business Park’s next news and networking meeting, which is being held from 8.15am on Friday (May 19) at the Xcel Centre.

The event is free, including a breakfast buffet, and is open to all businesses from the County Durham region – companies can register by clicking here.
