The commercial arm of County Durham training provider NC Group keeps growing – and well beyond its home turf.
NC Group tailors programmes and training courses to suit employers and individuals within Industry from its headquarters on Aycliffe Business Park, where they have developed their niche offering to neighbouring engineering and manufacturing organisations.
Having started out with eight members of staff pre-Covid, the company has expanded to a team of 28 and moved into new premises boasting a training academy consisting of five large training rooms and a large workshop downstairs.
But the team at NC Group does not want the progress to stop there. Instead, there is a drive to keep building, keep developing and keep fulfilling the needs of a large range of employers including a client base such as Gestamp, INEOS, 3M, Ricor North-East and Aycliffe Fabrications to name a few.
NC Group operations manager Darren Tate – pictured above with Abby Bailey in the firm’s electrical workshop – said: “We have grown further afield because of the work we do with these companies.
“We support their needs and fully support the development of their skills matrix. Supporting training and development throughout all organisations regardless of size. The commercial training we offer is both legislation led and employer bespoke.”
Darren explained the six key areas where NC Group can support:
Health and Safety
NC Group provide an expansive training portfolio in this area with specialist tutors with industry knowledge and experience to be able to tailor the training to the employer needs.
These includes areas such as IOSH managing safely, IOSH working safely, first aid at work and emergency first aid, fire safety and fire marshall, Level 3 NEBOSH managing safety certificate, manual handling and abrasive wheels and risk assessment training.
Compliance
NC Group has fully accredited tutors delivering the following for both refresher training and novice training in forklift truck, mobile elevated work platforms (MEWP), crane and slinging and lifting.
In addition to this, they can deliver regulation training for both LOLER and PUWER. This training although compliance based can have aspects of bespoke training based on how the employer operates on site.
Leadership and Development
This subject can be delivered in any sector and is not an off the shelf product. NC Group prides itself on clients getting operational payback from their training outlay. The basis of this training is built around their customers’ organisations.
Firstly, they will endeavour to familiarise ourselves with your company ethos, vision and culture and build models to suit the business. This then gives supervisors, middle managers and leaders skills they need to lead and support development and retention within the workforce.
Automation and Control
PLC Programming which gives individuals skills and knowledge in learning the most used instructions and routines in programming, allowing you to grow confident in approaching, maintaining and fault finding with the PLC. We cover: Siemens, Mitsubishi and Allen Bradley.
Health and Wellbeing
Mental health is huge in the workplace. NC Group’s courses within wellbeing, range from mental health first aid and advocacy training to stress management. Courses are a flexible way to learn about mental health and support a balanced workplace.
Maintenance and technical 18th edition test centre
NC Group is an 18th edition test centre for electrical wiring. This is a huge step forward for NC Group in providing local options for electrical training.
NC Group made the decision to get accreditation for this award after listening to local employers and identifying the need in the area for this accreditation.
“We then employed a sector specialist to deliver this qualification and are currently running at a 100 per cent pass rate,” adds Darren.
“We provide flexibility in delivery to support release of employees for operational demand.
“We also deliver lock out tag out training, mechanical maintenance training and problem solving in the workplace again with actual workplace examples or live issues.”
