Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Rockliffe Park 1st XI – weather was warm and sunny. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Newton Aycliffe 1st team put in a good performance to beat fellow promotion hopefuls Rockliffe Park firsts by six wickets at Moore Lane.
Jack Slatcher (sponsored by Dean and Tina Greaves, pictured above) was given the man-of-the-match after some outstanding bowling left him with his best ever first team figures of 7 for 63 from 12.2 overs bowled. This vital win keeps Aycliffe in the hunt for promotion as they sit in third place in the division 2 table with 253 points, just 16 points behind second placed Middlesbrough with six games to play.

Rockliffe Park 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was warm and sunny. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bat first.
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 201 for 2 after 40 overs
Neil Bancroft 82 not out, George Slatcher 70 not out and Lewis Gimple 16
Rockliffe Park 2nd XI for 158 for 8 after 40 overs
Matty Greaves 3 for 39, Neil Bancroft 2 for 21 and Lewis Gimple 2 for 24
Aycliffe’s young second team almost made it a second consecutive club double but Rockliffe battled hard and held out for a draw. Captain Neil Bancroft was the man of the match after he rolled back the years with a brilliant unbeaten 82 from 75 balls faced and his innings included eight boundaries and five big sixes. Special mention must also go to George Slatcher who batted equally as well to score a career best 70 not from 95 balls and he smashed ten boundaries in his memorable innings.
In the process, the impressive pair set a new club second team record of 144 for their unbroken 3rd wicket partnership.
