It was another mid-week start for the members of ARC with the first race taking place on Wednesday.

This was the sixth race in the Darlington Trail Series and this one was at Baydale Beck.

We had a good turn out of runners with Richard Holland first home for ARC in 20.55. He was followed by Mark Bainbridge 21.14, Dave Blewitt 23.31, John Burnside 23.46, Heather Morgan 24.39, John Heywood 25.42, Sue Milburn 26.02, John Richardson 26.33, Sarah Gill 27.02, David Stothard 27.36, Mandy Heywood 29.22, Tracey Pickering 31.03, Richard Tonge 31.24, Sam Elwell 32.47, Jane Burnside 32.51, Susan Clark 33.30, Cliff Pickering 35.20 and Jan McLuckie 37.57.

On Saturday the day began with parkruns and we had one member, Andy Talbot achieve a PB for the course at Darlington. Andy completed this in 18.51.

Also on Saturday, Paul Dalton took part in the Snape 10k where he came third place overall in a time of 38.06.

Finally, on Saturday, Alan Wilks took part in the 10k track championships. Alan had a fantastic race completing the distance in 47.40 and walking away with gold medal for the North East Masters and Bronze medal in the British Masters for his o/70 age category.

On Sunday, John Heywood took part in the Spadeadam Half Marathon organised by Trail Outlaws in association with the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.

The event takes place at RAF Spadeadam where the course takes you around the historic basis that was part of the UK’s missile project during the cold war.

There are numerous RAF practice targets and tanks along with course with views across the Lake District and Hadrians Wall. John completed this in 2.20.19.

Also on Sunday there was good turnout of runners for the Coxhoe Trail Race. This takes place in the trails around Coxhoe (very local) and is around six miles long. It has been a popular race with ARC for a number of years.

First home for ARC was Andy Talbot in 41.59 followed by Richard Holland in 44.11, Katie Dodds in 46.10, Shaun Dodds in 50.34, Kev Wilson in 52.06, Trish Kay in 53.33, Julie Nisbet in 58.23, David Stothard in 59.16, Bev Phillippo in 1.00.58, Michaela Kerr in 1.01.02, Kelly Dickinson in 1.01.07, Susan Clark in 1.07.44, Craig Robinson in 1.12.22 and Eve Doe in 1.15.01.

Junior Report

Also, on Sunday at Junior parkrun Sedgefield our youngest member Elijah (aged 5) completed his 50th parkrun achieving a PB at the same time. A great achievement for someone so young.

For anyone interested in joining the club, you can simply turn up at one of our sessions all of which start from the Oakleaf Complex in Newton Aycliffe. Monday night is beginners run at 6.30pm, Tuesday is endurance/speed session from 7pm, and Thursday is a track session and this takes place at Shildon Track.

Further details can be found on our website or facebook pages or alternatively you can message the club via facebook for more information.
