It has been a busy couple of weeks for Aycliffe Running Club with a number of races taking place.

On Monday, July 31, one member took part at the North East Masters Harrier League meeting 5.

John Surtees finished second in his heat and second overall in the 3,000 metres, finishing in a time of 9:35.

On Thursday, August 2, two members took part in the South Shields monthly mile with David Stothard (7:10) and Ian Stothard (9:29), both taking part.

On Sunday, an astonishing 44 members took part in the Darlington 10k with a number of runners achieving personal bests.

Representing the club were Richard Campbell (37:33), Richard Trowles with a new PB (37:33), Matt Muir new PB (38:57), Gary O’Connor (41:43), Gareth Hamblin in a new PB (41:57), Stephen Dunn (42:13), Richard Holland (43:01), Martyn Knox (43:21), Bernadette Cooper in a new PB, (45:03), Kirsty Cameron (46:02), Daniel Tatham new PB (46:04), Steven Dawson (46:34), Dave Blewitt (46:50), Dan Shoulder (48:45), Kevin Tatham (49:34), Tamara Kirk with a new PB (50:30), Holly Shoulder with a new PB (51:38), John Burnside (51:39), Samantha Metcalfe (52:45), Trish Kay (53:01), Susan Rees (53:17), David Stothard (53:34), Laura Hudson (53:52), Catherine McDonnell (54:27), Carley Gibson (55:25), Michaela Kerr (55:42), Steve Williams (55:45), Sue Podmore (56:17), Laura Grainger (56:40), Samantha Harding (56:47), Angela Sutheran (56:49), Tracey Pickering (59:31), Viv Williams (1:00:37), Judith Porter (1:01:31), Melanie Rowland (1:01:33), Beverley Phillippo (1:02:18), Eve Doe (1:02:58), Kelly Dickinson (1:03:27), Denise Evans (1:04:41), Jane Quigley (1:05:45), Emma Flynn (1:06:04), Ian Stothard (1:09:10), Clifford Pickering (1:13:22) and Susan Clark (1:13:39).

On Wednesday, August 9, one member took part in race 5 of the Muddy Roads series of races with Matt Muir finishing fourth in a time of 21:10.

On the same day, three members took part in the Quayside 5k with Richard Trowles (18:02), Carley Gibson (25:21) and Emma Flynn (31:33) all representing the club.

At the same time, 13 members took part in the sixth race in the Darlington 5k trail series with the South Park 5k.

Representing the club were Richard Holland (20:46), Mark Bainbridge (22:33), Daniel Tatham (23:38), Tamara Kirk (25:27), Sarah Gill (25:55), David Stothard 27:20), Sue Podmore 27:27), Melanie Rowland (29:23), Kelly Dickinson (31:29), Tracey Pickering (32:08), Eve Doe 32:32), Cliff Pickering (34:01), and Ian Stothard 34:40.

On August 12, two members took part in the Gateshead Trail 10k with Carley Gibson (57:31) and Emma Flynn (1:08:37) both representing the club.

On August 13, two members took part in the Outlaw Trails Branches and Bays 10k with Richard Tonge (1:27:05) and Kathleen Tonge (1:27:40), both representing the club.

On Saturday, 32 members started their weekend with a parkrun, taking in the Moors Valley, Whitley Bay, Durham, Sedgefield, Riverside, Hackworth, Druridge Bay, Leazes Hamsterley Forest and Wynyard Woodland events.

At Whitley Bay, Steve Williams (26:55) and Viv Williams (30:54),both completed the course for the first time. Mark Bainbridge (22:16) completed the course at Durham for the first time.

At Riverside, Richard Trowles continued his excellent form setting a new personal best of 18:26 for the course.

Bernadette Cooper (22:39) finished as third lady at Hackworth in her 125th run at this event. Bernadette also become the fastest lady from the club at Jubilee, the week before in a time of 23:00. At Hamsterley Forest, Susan Rees finished as third lady in a time of 29:09.
