It has been another busy week for Aycliffe Running Club as winter racing continues.

On Saturday, the club entered teams into the NECAA Cross Country Relay Championships.

The Senior women could not submit a team in the end due to some having to withdraw with Laura Hudson, the sole runner finishing in a time of 20:20.

The club entered one team into the Masters Event with the team of Steve Williams (22:29), David Stothard (21:05) and Salv McDonnell (15:16) finishing in a total time of 58:50. In the senior men’s race the team of Richard Campbell (14:42), Matt Muir (15:30), Richard Holland (16:47) and Martin Turnbull (15:19) finishing in a total time of 1:02:18.

On Sunday, two members took part in the Brampton to Carlisle 10 Mile race.

John Surtees finished in an excellent time of 58:12. Tracey Surtees also ran an excellent race finished third in the ladies over 35 category in a time of 1:07:54.

At the same time, two members took part in the Morecambe Festival of Running with Dave Blewitt (1:22:544) and Yvonne Blewitt (1:46:26) both taking part in the 10 mile race. Dave was also first in the men’s over 55 category with Yvonne second in the women’s over 55 category.

On Saturday, 28 members started their weekend with a parkrun, taking in the Sedgefield, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Penrith, Keswick, Monaghan Town, and Jubilee events.

At Sedgefield, Steve Williams (27:18), Melanie Rowland (30:27), Richard Tonge (32:46) and Kathleen Tonge (34:02) all completed the course.

Also a special mention for one of our Social Members, Peter Varley (36:53), who completed his 100th ever parkrun, an amazing achievement.

At Darlington South Park, Gareth Hamblin (20:28), Shelley McCormack (27:00) and Ian Stothard (43:43) all completed the course.

At Hackworth, Richard Trowles (18:52) finished first and Bernadette Cooper (25:00) finishing as second lady.

A special mention also goes to Daniel Tatham (24:06) who also completed his 100th ever parkrun, another amazing achievement for Daniel this year.

Others that completed the course were Salv McDonnell (25:53), Richard Holland (26:47), Laura Grainger (27:24). Cath McDonnell (28:30), Kelly Dickinson (30:09), Sandrine Hewitt (30:45)completing the course for the first time, Tracey Pickering (33:22), Em Flynn (33:27), Cliff Pickering (34:29) and Susan Clark (38:22).

Heather Bainbridge and Mark Bainbridge completed the course at Penrith for the first time, finishing together in a time of 29:45.

At Keswick Susan Rees completed the course in a time of 26:21). At Monaghan Town, Linda McNamee (35:01), completed the event.

Over at Jubilee, David Stothard (43:15) supported the event as tail walker ensuring everyone got around safely.
