Woodham Academy’s outgoing head teacher Christine Forsyth has told Aycliffe Today she’s “delighted” with the appointment of her successor.
The school revealed in March that Andrew Bell would take over from Mrs Forsyth this summer.
Andrew joined Woodham in 2013 and, as deputy head teacher, has been responsible for student outcomes.
Mrs Forsyth had no say in the decision-making of who’d take over the reins at Woodham following her seven-year stint at the helm.
But she told Aycliffe Today: “I will say I am absolutely delighted. And that I know that Andrew Bell will do an absolute brilliant job.
“I am actually very proud that my deputy is taking over from me, because it’s someone who I have worked with for a number of years and I am very confident that the values and the attitudes and the standards that we have achieved, will just go from strength to strength.”
Mrs Forsyth says she’s proud to have been involved with and led the school for seven years.
“What a wonderful community, in which to work and how lucky I’ve been,” she added.
“And how privileged I’ve been to have such a wonderful job and to have the opportunity to work here.
“I’m proud of the school and the children and the staff, and the difference that I think we are making for these children.”
