The seven-year-old gelding from star sprinter Soviet Star looks the outstanding candidate in this race despite carrying top weight under jockey Jason Maguire. Donald McCain’s charge has won his last three outs, the last two by a combined distance of 27-lengths, though with less carriage it has to be said. This slightly shorter distance will compensate for that penalty and we fully expect Ladbrokes to once more be left reeling after our success on recent Saturday’s which has saw us tip successfully a 4/1 and a 9/2 winner, to add to our 5/1 victory at Cheltenham in midweek.

It may be St. Patrick’s Day but we think the luck of the Irish will desert countryman Martin O’Neill as he takes his Sunderland side to Goodison Park for this FA Cup last eight tie. Everton have a certain hex on the Black Cats and you have to go back to December 2001 for the last Mackems victory. Sunderland are without skipper Lee Cattermole and top scorer Sebastian Sessegnon, and although they were well beaten in midweek, David Moyes’ men will be well up for another assault on Wembley, after their 2009 final defeat to Chelsea. Everton rested several star players against Liverpool, and one of those was Jelavic, signed from Rangers in January, where he had netted 18 times prior to last week’s first goal for the Toffee’s, in their 1-0 win over Spurs.
