Many of our teams were back in action last week. Here is this week’s round-up…

Newton Aycliffe U8s Blacks TJFA Maroon Division played against Marton Royals
Aycliffe began their new season at home against Marton Royals on a heavy pitch. After going behind to an early goal the boys played some great football, but could not get past the excellent Marton keeper who pulled off some great saves and somehow found themselves down at half time. Second half the Aycliffe kept fighting and did not let their heads go down as Marton added to their goals. Regan deservedly scored goals back for Aycliffe. Overall a great game of football. Aycliffe played some great football and had many chances.

Newton Aycliffe U8 Whites RFYL Division 5 played against Silksworth
Aycliffe had a cracking day with great effort by all the team. Oscar did well in defence again, Harry was back after self-isolating and took Will’s place in defence, he did well with his tackling and played some great passes up the field. The new team members, Ozzie and Ellis, had a half each again and are getting better with every game. William B was excellent in goal again especially with his long kicks out of his hands up the field that provide a massive advantage. Regan was fantastic up front, fighting for everything and excellent in front of goal.

Newton Aycliffe U9 Juniors TJFA White Division played against Whinney Banks
A slow start saw them concede early goals both from corners but Aycliffe kept their heads up and ended the first half up. Goals came from Mason, Jack & Tyler. The second half was very even, both teams creating chances but Whinney Banks converted two more corners. A great game which no one deserved to lose.

Newton Aycliffe U9s Blacks RFYL Division 9 against Chester Town United
Aycliffe looked stronger in defence this week, so a really well done Olly, Mathis and Alfie. An unfortunate own goal did not dampen their spirits with Aycliffe recovering well and bouncing back. Once again Aycliffe showed fantastic team spirit by chasing the game and fighting for every ball. There was a great effort from James up front with help from the tireless Rhys and the ever running Benjamin, even with another knock to his calf. James was so unlucky not to score today. Max was good in goal in the first half, especially as defensive cover on through balls then helped us finish them off in the second half. Goals from – Rhys, Benjamin and Max.

Newton Aycliffe U11s TJFA White Division played against Primrose
Aycliffe played their first league game of the season away to Primrose. Aycliffe started really well with a great move involving JJ, Thomas and Callum which saw Callum finishing the move well. Aycliffe had more chances in the first half but the pace of primrose was too much for Aycliffe and they went behind. However just before the break they got one back after an excellent piece of play saw JJ slot the ball past the very good Primrose keeper.
In the second half, Ethan came on and started to get some space down the left which inspired Aycliffe as they played some outstanding football after the break. However, with chance after chance they just could not find the back of the net. JJ worked so hard today and was everywhere, unfortunately Aycliffe started getting tired and legs were getting heavy as Primrose pushed on. Aycliffe brought on Alex and Joe who made both an impact straight away with them both having chances. A late penalty shout to Aycliffe was not given after a great run by Ethan as he was shoved in the back in the box just as he was about to shoot. Goals came from Callum and Jack.

Newton Aycliffe U12s Blacks RYFL division 5 played against Hedworth Gold
Aycliffe scored an early goal but Hedworth pushed back and equalised not too shortly after. Aycliffe started slow but surely finding their feet. This game was a good battle, strong tackles, brilliant shots and end to end play. Hedworth had a corner which unfortunately deflected off an Aycliffe player and ended up in the net, own goal. Hedworth scored another to go up 2-1.
The second half as in the previous half Aycliffe scored an early goal making it 2-2. Aycliffe had such a better second half, playing good football and came close on many occasions hitting the post and crossbar. Aycliffe got complacent at times and Hedworth punished them making it 3-2. Aycliffe equalised with Alex following the ball up with great attacking instincts. 4 minutes left and they pushed and pushed, coming close and missed a great opportunity. They found a long ball over the top which was offside, Aycliffe did not play to the whistle and Hedworth punished them with the winning goal.

Newton Aycliffe U13s Whites TJFA Division 1 played against TIBS Blues
Aycliffe played really well in the first half and had they taken their chances they would have been out of sight at half time. Unfortunately they went in 1-0 down at half time after TIBS scored from a free kick.
Credit to TIBBS in the second half as they played better and took their chances. Aycliffe stopped playing their usual passing football and started forcing the ball. With TIBS only creating 6 chances the whole game they scored 5, Aycliffe created at least double that and scored 1 from the penalty spot. Harsh lesson to learn from today’s result, if you do not take your chances you get punished at this level. Unfortunately mistakes happened at Aycliffe’s end and they were punished for it today. Final score Aycliffe 1-5 TIBS Blues

Newton Aycliffe U15s RFYL Division 5 played against Consett AFC
Aycliffe faced Consett AFC at home, with only 11 players available. In an end to end game, the main difference overall was the quality of the passing in the final 3rd from Consett, where they took their chances when they arrived. Aycliffe’s performance was good overall, with the efforts in recent training sessions showing in parts. A tough result, but heads up and they go again next week.
