A rapidly-growing recruitment firm has moved into new premises on Aycliffe Business Park as it embarks on ambitious growth plans for the North East, spearheaded from its new Newton Aycliffe office.

Major Recruitment has relocated to Parson’s Court on Welbury Way after acquiring Torus Recruitment earlier this year.

The Huddersfield-based group bought Torus, a £6m-a-year operation with offices in Aycliffe and Doncaster, after it went into administration on May 1.

The acquisition boosts Major Recruitment’s annual turnover to £30m, a workforce to 100 and a larger geographical area.

The company already supplies quality labour to industrial, logistics, technical, engineering, healthcare, clerical and executive placements. Permanent placements have also been a highly-successful growth area within the business.

The acquisition extends Major’s reach into the North East coupled with growth plans for the North West with arrival of new Liverpool office arriving in August this year.

Major Recruitment chairman Phil Bottomley, pictured above (centre) with his team (left to right) Lyndsay Goodsell, Richard Parker, Warren Bendle and Cath Archer, said: “This is part of our long-term growth plans and we’re delighted to acquire Torus Recruitment and in particular partner with its people, who make up a really talented team.

“We’ve had three or four years of continued growth, aided by a more vibrant economy now and our strategy of organic and acquisitive growth in new markets enables us to provide unique multi-sector solutions to our clients.

“Our independent structure allows us to be dynamic and focus on our core values which are fundamentally about delivering an extensive, exceptional professional and ethical service to our clients.

Major Recruitment now has locations in Liverpool, Oldham, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Doncaster, Castleford, Leeds and Aycliffe.

Major specialise in six specialist areas, which are:
• Industrial – suppliers of blue collar workers to manufacturing, warehousing and distribution organisations.
• Technical – supplier of skilled, trades and engineering personnel to industry.
• Logistics – suppliers of HGV driving and logistics personnel to the distribution industry.
• Commercial – administrative, call centre, sales, HR, legal professional office personnel.
• Healthcare – providing recruitment solutions to the health & social care sector.
• Energy & Power – a global provider of on and offshore recruitment solutions.

Richard Parker, North East business development manager, said: “We have expansion plans for Newton Aycliffe and our relocation to Parson’s Court is part of that.

“We have six members of staff but the potential is to increase that by a further 10 over the next 12 to 18 months.”

Lyndsay Goodsell, Major Energy executive, said: “The multi-disciplined approach offers a good, stable platform from which to operate, so that’s what we’re keen to do here in Newton Aycliffe by bringing all our other divisions to the Aycliffe site over the next 12 to 18 months.”

Since 1992, Major Recruitment has delivered an unrivalled service to both clients and candidates alike, and we are now one of the largest independent recruitment firms in the North of England.

Warren Bendle, Major Energy principle, added: “We invest heavily in training and development, our board of directors has grown organically with the business over the years coupled with organic development of its staff member, many of those benefiting from promotions into management positions.

“We are flexible and transparent in our approach and we work with our clients across multiple sectors, which reduces the need to work with numerous recruitment agencies across varying skill sets within your business.”

• The new Major Recruitment offices are at 13 Parson’s Court on Welbury Way, DL5 6ZE. You can call them today on 01325 468780.
