Saturday 19th August – NYSD Division 2
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Bedale 1st XI – weather was sunny and mild. Bedale won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 142 all out after 42 overs

Luke Telford (pictured above, sponsored by Pheonix Energy) was nominated as man of the match for a good all round performance, including top scoring with 51 runs off 88 balls, with seven fours when he batted and then taking 2 for 24 when he bowled later in the game.
The first team haven’t won a game for 5 weeks and are being sucked back into the relegation dog fight. With only 4 games to go, Aycliffe sit in 9th place in the table with 161 points from 18 games played and only 28 points clear of the relegation places.

Maltby 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was sunny and mild. Maltby won the toss and chose to bat first.
Maltby 2nd XI 205 for 9 after 50 overs
Neil Bancroft 4 for 30 and Steve Sweeney 2 for 30.
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 48 all out after 18.1 overs

The second team were well beaten away at promotion hopefuls Maltby 2nd XI by a huge 157 runs. Neil Bancroft was given the man of the match award for his superb bowling finishing with the excellent figures of 4 for 30 from a marathon 13 over spell. Special mention must go to 17 year old Ryan Patrick who held four brilliant catches in the deep to equal the 2nd team club record of most catches in a match by an outfield palyer. Aycliffe picked up four bonus points from the game taking their total to 77 points with 4 games left to play.
