The football season moved in to its second month as the Aycliffe Juniors teams continued their seasons with both league and cup action.

The Under 7’s Whites maintained their unbeaten start to the league campaign in an exciting game against Bishop Juniors. The lead changed hands a number of times as they battled to a 6-5 win. Jack scored a superb five goals and Tyler added one.

The Under 7’s Juniors played a friendly game against Shildon on Saturday. They proved to be too strong for their opponents and a hatrick each from Daniel, Jonah, Jack and Dom were added to by goals from Kai and Jak P in a comfortable win. Their winning weekend continued with a 10-3 League Cup win at Whinney Banks on Sunday. The scorers were Kai (5), Jack (4) and man of the match Daniel.

The Under 8’s were up against Stranton in the Challenge Cup. They faced a two goal deficit with eight minutes left but a great team effort and two goals from Evan forced the game to end as a 2-2 draw. The game then went to penalties to decide who would go on to the next round, saves from Trent and successfully taken penalties from Alex, Sam and Alfie won the game for Aycliffe.

The Under 9’s took on Marton Royals at Woodham in the Challenge Cup. They secured a 4-2 win with two goals for Thomas and one each for Preston and man of the match Oliver. The development game ended in a 4-0 loss for the Aycliffe team.

The Under 10’s ‘Clarets’ played Marton Blues at Woodham. They created many opportunities but could not get the finishing touch often enough. A competitive game ended 5-1 to the visitors.

The Under 10’s ‘Whites’ had a tough cup clash against Leven Juniors from the top Division. Resilient defending kept the game goal less at half time. The higher league team then broke through in the second half and won 3-0. In the development game James scored a screamer but Leven won 5-1.

The Under 11’s ‘Black’ also lost out to Leven 8-1. The Under 11’s ‘Whites’ kept their cup run going with a 9-0 second round win at Wolsingham. Aidan (4), Ollie (2), Will, Jack and Harvey were great scorers and Aidan was named as man of the match.

The Under 12’s came away 9-1 winners from their trip to play Stockton Hardwick in the cup. Man of the match Charlie B got a brace and there was a hatrick for Zak as well as goals for Jake, Alfie, Charlie E and Thomas.

The Under 13 Russell Foster League team travelled to Gateshead Redheugh and found themselves 5-1 down at half time. A superb fight back brought the scoreline to 5-5 with Aycliffe having five different scorers in Herbie, Sam, Taylor, Noah and man of the match Charlie. However the hosts then finished the strongest to win 7-5.

The Under 13’s TJFA League team hosted fellow Division one side Stockton Town in the League Cup. The visitors won the match 3-1 with the Aycliffe goal coming from a superb Charlie Bunton strike after a neat Maradona turn.

The Under 14’s hosted Billingham Juniors in the cup and moved through to the next round with a 2-1 win. Callum Fraser got both the goals.
