PUNTERS’ PANEL

April 27th, 2013 Glen Robertson NAFC 0 comments 0

punters panel

Our panel of three Aycliffe ‘experts’ give their predictions for this weekend’s game…

One point is award for the correct result (win, lose or draw), and three points are awarded for the correct scoreline.

After the double-header this week, Paul closed the gap at the top with a perfect score for the win over Norton, while Dan regained some dignity after correctly predicting a defeat against Whitley Bay.

Scores on the Doors:
Glen Robertson – 20
Paul McGeary – 18
Dan Lewis – 13

This week, our experts cast their eye over the final game with Guisborough Town.

Paul McGeary
I’ve been on a hot streak lately and in my pursuit of Glen, I’m going to let my head rule my heart and take an away victory. The lads have been tremendous over the past few weeks, and the physical and emotional strain will have been a heavy load to carry around. I’d like to say a huge well done to each and every one of them for saving the club from the drop, and hope they enjoy their summer. The party will be in full swing by 5pm on Saturday, and I think one or two heads will have turned their attentions to it even before then, and why not? Couple that with the fact that Guisborough netted five themselves on Wednesday, and have 24 hours more rest than us, as well as the fact that Aycliffe have never won their final game of the season, crashing 0-3, 0-4 and 2-4 in the past three campaigns.
Newton Aycliffe 1-3 Guisborough Town

Dan Lewis
This game is pretty hard to call. Both teams are now safe, mid table dare I say! It’s the last game of the season for the Aycliffe lads and these types of games can often be pretty entertaining, open affairs. I would like to think that will be the case on Saturday. We have been scoring goals freely lately, not only from the prolific strikers but also midfielders and defenders chipping in. That has added a significant extra dimension to the team.
There is a party in the Sports Club after the game, and I am going to back the lads to get the party started on the pitch at 3pm!
Newton Aycliffe 3-1 Guisborough

Glen Robertson
I should just predict a 3-1 defeat so Paul can’t overtake me, but where would the fun be in that? I know how important winning this is to Mr Statto so I’ll at least give him a fighting chance. The Priorymen are a very good side and there have been some thrillers between the sides in recent years. My favourite was last spring’s 4-2 fightback – mainly as it was one of the few we’ve got the upper hand in – and I’ll go for another high-scoring thriller, with another Aycliffe win to round off the season in style.
Newton Aycliffe 5-3 Guisborough
