Youthy Football round-up

By Berni Borsberry

It was yet another wet weekend, but we managed to get some games on at the Oakleaf…

Hardwick Youth 2 v 8 U12 Eagles
The boys were up for it from the initial whistle and although seemed a little rusty at first it didn’t take them long to find their form. Going a goal down with a shot from distance within the first 3 minutes gave them the shock they needed to wake up and it wasnt long before they found an equaliser before running away with the game.
Goals came from Carter 3, Harley 3, Jack V 2 . MOM Dan who worked really hard up and down the wings with a great attitude and smile on his face. Getting stuck into tackles, playing fantastic passes to his teammates and leaving nothing on the pitch.

South Shields 9 v 4 U14 Girls (Sunday)- Cup Semi Final
The first 25 minutes is as good as Aycliffe have played against South Shields this season, winning individual battles and creating opportunities. After going 1-0 down against the run of play Lana equalised. Shields were ruthless in front of goal and took the lead on 25 minutes. Then the Shields took the game away from us adding 4 more goals before the break HT 6-1. However a great response in the second half despite the home team adding a 7th. Romilly found Faith to score. Shields then once again found the top corner from outside the area. Despite the girls playing to the final whistle, South Shields march into the final. Players Faith Coaches Layken,

U8 Eagles v Darlington RA
First league game at home in some time thanks to away fixtures and weather. It took the Eagles a few minutes to get going which gave the opposition an early 2 goal lead. However the boys soon woke up and started playing really well. By half time the game had turned around with the Eagles leading. The game ended with a resounding victory for the Eagles with a great all round display from the boys.

U10 Girls v Washington Lionesses
A great win for the girls, as they showed great build up play, passing their way up the pitch. Poppy H managed to break through the Washington defence to score the opener. Poppy H wins a corner which was then played high into the box where Amelia volleyed it into the back of the net. HT 2-0. Second half, PoppyB put a long throw into the box, a quick reaction from Amelia who slid in to score. Then another corner from PoppyH to Emily C to score. Washington were pushing and finally managed to get through our defence and grabbed a goal. However, PoppyB scored twice near the end for an emphatic win. FT 6-1. POTM Amelia

U13 Boys 2 v 1 Kader
Aycliffe took the lead through a devilish cross by Josh, which was turned into their own net by a Kader defender. Posi’s shot across the keeper, was initially saved, but Zak slotted in the rebound. HT 2-0.
Kader ramped up the pressure in the second half. Despite conceding with 2 minutes remaining, the lads saw it out for an impressive win against the League Runners-Up. Josh & Elliott MOMs.

U6 Eagles (boys)
Our newest boys’ team had their debut friendly, in an in-house game, against the under 7 development squad. Great game of football with plenty of skills on show from both sets of boys.
If you want to start a football journey, this is for boys in School year 1, you will be made very welcome. contact Berni 07939045242

U9 Wildcats v Whickham Fellside
Another fantastic game, both teams playing great football. The girls took the lead midway through the first half, courtesy of Brooke. Whickham equalised in the second half in what was a tight & entertaining game. Well done to all the girls on a fantastic performance. Elsie & Alice R. POTMs.
