You’ll just ‘love’ Greenfield’s revamped tennis courts

July 20th, 2017 Martin Walker Sport 0 comments 0

Greenfield Community College and Greenfield Tennis Club are delighted to announce the completion of extensive improvements to their tennis courts, returning them to an excellent standard.

The improvements were made possible through local funding from GAMP via the Neighbourhood Budget allocations of County councillors, John Clare, Kate Hopper, Eddy Adam and Sarah Iveson, and former councillors Mike Dixon, Joan Gray and Jed Hillary.

Greenfield head teacher David Priestley said: “It is fantastic to have our floodlit tennis courts back to a gold standard.

“These are an integral part of our schools high quality sports facilities that enable us to give our students the best possible opportunities working with our award winning PE department.

“We are committed to serving our community and it is good to see the wider use of the facility out of hours in partnership with the Tennis Club.”

Greenfield Tennis Club secretary John Snowball added: “Greenfield Tennis Club members and officials are delighted that thanks to the support of everyone – the club and town can again be proud to have top class tennis facilities now that the courts have been restored to their former glory.”

The recent launch (pictured above) was attended by councillors John Clare, Eddy Adam and Kate Hopper, Adam White of GAMP with director of community sport Barbara Davis, head of school Chris Stonehouse, head David Priestley, deputy head Stuart Dixon, head of PE Martin Butterworth, subject leader Richard Allison and John Snowball from Greenfield Tennis Club, along with a number of Year 8 and 9 students.
