THE ‘AYCLIFFE BLUE’ BLOG!

February 14th, 2012 Martin Walker Blog 0 comments 0

Newton Aycliffe NPT Sergeant Mark Edwards continues his weekly blog on Aycliffe Today…

Hello again. Well, I said I would keep future entries shorter so will do my best to stick to that!

It’s been a busy week in Newton Aycliffe. Earlier in the week our Serious Crime Team (SCT) dealt with a 21-year-old male from the town who had been arrested on suspicion of committing several thefts from retail premises across the town and a couple of robberies.

I am glad to report that he was charged with several offences as a result and is now currently on remand awaiting future appearance in court.

Our local detectives put in long hours to get this outcome and it’s good to see this male is where he belongs right now.

I am sure you all want to know his name (many of you may know exactly who I’m referring to), full details will be released in the future.

As you will see elsewhere on this site there was a theft of alloy wheels reported from the Fenhal Green area of the town overnight (Thursday 9th into Friday 10th Feb) in which a Ford Focus Zetec was left ‘jacked up’ after the offenders took off with all wheels.

The team are progressing several lines of enquiry but we are appealing to anyone to come forward who may have seen any persons or vehicles acting suspiciously in the area during the times in question.

Information can be passed to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 for those wishing to remain anonymous.

As the current ‘cold snap’ continues I encourage all motorists to drive with care on the roads in and around the town. The cold conditions have resulted in many of our roads freezing over resulting in accidents.

Members of the team will be at the unit we share in the town centre on Upper Beveridge Walkway today (Tuesday) so if you’re out and about and fancy popping by then please feel free to do so.

Details of other ‘access points’ will be publicised in due course. Follow us on Twitter or Facebook for details.

There we go – short and sweet (or not!).

Be good.
