Swimmers compete in Billingham

March 10th, 2020 Martin Walker Sport 0 comments 0

Sedgefield 75 Swimming Club took part in Richmond Dales Swimming Club’s “Off the Blocks” competition held at Billingham Forum pool last weekend.

10 young swimmers competed in a combined total of 47 individual swims and two team events. Charlie McEwan won golds in both 200 freestyle and 50 butterfly. Charlotte Lee swam in four events setting a personal best in 100m freestyle.

Chloe Harding set three new PB times out of the six races she entered and won silver in 100m individual medley, and bronzes in 50m freestyle, backstroke and butterfly events.

Kathryn Lee took an incredible six seconds from her 100m individual medley PB winning bronze in the process. She also won silvers in 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle.

Oliver Turnbull also hit a big PB in 100m individual medley and made improvements at 100m freestyle and breaststroke in his six events.

Tom Curran set five new PBs out of seven and took gold in 50m backstroke and freestyle, silver in 100m & 200m freestyle and 100m individual medley and a bronze at 50m butterfly.

Zoe Hodgson had another good competition, winning bronze in 100m individual medley and 50m freestyle also setting five PBs including over five seconds in her 200m freestyle.

Ellis Dickinson continued his excellent rate of improvement taking over five seconds off his 100m freestyle PB set only one month ago and getting another PB in 50m backstroke.

Lucy Mason took medals in three out of three events, golds in 50m and 100m freestyle and bronze in 50m breaststroke.

Dylan Forster also had a 100% medal return winning silver in 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke.

The excitement of the gala continued as the girls teamed up in the 200m freestyle and medley relay events finishing fourth in both.

An excellent weekend of swimming proving all the hard work in training pays off when racing. Very well done to all the swimmers and poolside parents especially Owen getting his feet wet for the first time as a helper. Another well-run gala from Richmond Dale Swimming Club.
