Success for County Durham GCSE students

August 22nd, 2024 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

GCSE pupils across County Durham are being congratulated after reaching a huge milestone today.

Durham County Council has praised students receiving their results, with 62 per cent of children across the county achieving the pass grade of four and above in English and maths.

Cllr Ted Henderson, Durham County Council’s Cabinet member for children and young people’s services, said: “Today is a momentous day for all students receiving their GCSE results and I would like to congratulate them all. Students should feel very proud, not just of their achievement but also of their hard work over the course of their GCSEs.

“While nationally the pass rate has fallen for a third year, within County Durham we have seen the pass rate maintained from last year. This is testament to the hard work and commitment shown by our pupils.

“It can be disappointing for those who don’t get the results they hoped for, but it’s important to remember that there are lots of different paths to success.

“Here in County Durham, we have help and support available for everyone as they continue their journey into education, employment or training so please don’t feel disheartened.”

Pupils can access a range of advice around apprenticeships, recruitment, and training for 16 to 24-year-olds at www.durhamworks.info
