The Year 7 and Year 8 athletics teams from Woodham Academy enjoyed a successful afternoon at the South West Durham Schools Athletics competition.
The event was held at Shildon Athletics Stadium and eight schools from across the area competed in the event, so that students could experience competing at a specialist venue with excellent Athletics facilities.
Woodham Academy entered boys and girls teams for both year groups and students competed in a range of events which included track events, including relays, the long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot putt and javelin.
There were some magnificent individual performances with several students winning their events and all teams scoring highly overall.
A special mention to the Y7 boys’ team, who came second overall in their category and to the Y8 girls’ team, who came third overall.
