PUNTERS’ PANEL

February 28th, 2013 PMcGeary NAFC 0 comments 0

Our panel of three Aycliffe ‘experts’ give their predictions for this weekend’s game…

One point is award for the correct result (win, lose or draw), and three points are awarded for the correct scoreline.

No-one predicted the snow storm last week, so its as you were!

Scores on the Doors:
Glen Robertson – 16
Paul McGeary – 12
Dan Lewis – 9

This week, the trio aim to get more points on the board by overseeing the clash with Billingham Town.

Paul McGeary
We look to avenge the humiliating 8-0 defeat we suffered to Town in September and with the fortunes of both clubs since, we’re best placed to bag the three points. Town’s hat-trick hero that day, Jamie Owens, has since moved on, as has the experienced Mick Dunwell, but top scorer Nicky Martin and recent acquisition Danny Brunskill are capable of finding the net. Former Aycliffe defenders Paul Harvey and James Risbrough will be looking to get one over their former team, but with a full stable (apart from Mark Peck) to choose from, I can see Aycliffe winning this one, and further stretching their advantage over the bottom three.
Billingham Town 1-4 Newton Aycliffe

Dan Lewis
Well, I am certainly not as experienced a manager as Allan, but I reckon his team talk for this week will be fairly straightforward, after our 8-0 home defeat earlier in the season. Of course, we have seen a significant change in personnel since then, and indeed a couple of the players who have played in our back four this season may line up against us, but the basic premise remains the same. We need to put the record straight, and I believe we will. The pitch at Billingham is one of the best in the league as part of their relationship with Hartlepool, and this will play to our strengths as our forward players look to make the most of their skill and agility.
Billingham Town 0-3 Newton Aycliffe

Glen Robertson
Aycliffe have been pretty good lately at winning when they need to – Norton, Team Northumbria, Penrith away and Consett. Penrith at home has been the only so-called ‘six-pointer’ that the club have lost since November. This is arguably the most important of the lot and, with the 8-0 horror-show fresh on the minds, the Royal Blues should be fine. A win and safety is in touching distance. A defeat and the rest of the season will be very uncomfortable.
Billingham Town 0-2 Newton Aycliffe
