New youth teams joins the ranks at Aycliffe

September 12th, 2024 Martin Walker NAFC 0 comments 0

Newton Aycliffe Football Club has announced a new youth team to its ranks.

As part of the club’s commitment to developing young players, the Newtonians have welcomed Newton Aycliffe FC Under 17s to the club.

The Under 17s team will be playing in the Teesside Junior Football Alliance (TJFA) Division 1 league.

Their next two games are at home on successive Sundays and will be played on the senior team’s pitch at The Ashcourt Group Stadium, Newton Aycliffe Sports Club, where supporters are welcome to attend the games to get behind the new team.

Aycliffe chairman Allan Oliver said “I am really pleased to welcome the Under 17s to the Club.

“These are exciting times for Aycliffe. The senior team is unbeaten so far this season and doing as well as we’ve ever done in the FA Cup.

“We have shown, in winning the Northern League AND in our first Northern Premier League season that we are able to bring through junior players into the senior ranks.

“In the years to come I am sure we will see talented young players from the Under 17 team progress into the Northern Premier League.

“I’d like to thank their coach, Steven Powell, the players and their parents for committing to Newton Aycliffe Football Club and I look forward to the journey, both on and off the pitch, that lies ahead.”
