MAYOR ATTENDS CARE HOME’S XMAS FAYRE

Aycliffe Care Home held a fun Christmas Fayre, which was attended by The Mayor of Newton Aycliffe, Councillor Mrs Barbara A Clare, and members of the local community.

The fayre raised more than £925.00 for extra treats for the residents this Christmas and there was face painting, balloon making, a tombola, stalls selling bric a brac, books, cds and cakes, refreshments and fun festive games, including pin the nose on the reindeer, for everyone to enjoy.

Aycliffe Care Home, which is part of Akari Care, is Located on Burnhope Way and is a purpose built 54-bed home that provides 24 hour general residential and dementia care. The home also provides general nursing and dementia nursing care.

Shirley Summerbell, Peripatetic Manager for Akari Care, said: “Everyone had a fantastic time at the Christmas Fayre and we were thrilled that The Mayor of Newton Aycliffe, Councillor Mrs Barbara A Clare, could join us. Our residents always love meeting members of the community, so it was great that lots of people came along to support the home and residents. The fayre left us feeling very festive and the money raised will go towards extra Christmas treats for our residents.”
