Art lovers in Aycliffe are being invited to a new exhibition which highlights the beauty of the natural world.
The new exhibition, which is called The Natural World, is on show at the NeST Gallery in Barnard Castle until March 31.
The NeST is the result of the redevelopment of vacant premises by Barnard Castle Vision to form workspaces, studios, gallery and café all under one roof.
The exhibition, which follows on from the gallery’s previous successful exhibition A Sense of Place, will be showcasing work by new artists from Tyne and Wear, including Amy Dover, Graham Hodgson, Eileen Rowell and Naomi Walker, as well as work by John Erwin and Jill Campbell, from County Durham, Chris Binney, from Darlington, and Sue Dewhurst, from North Yorkshire.
Over 20 artists took part in the previous exhibition which proved to be very popular with visitors to the gallery.
Eva Zandman, NeST Gallery Co-ordinator, explained: “This new exhibition explores the natural world in more detail with each artist involved having a particular interest in an aspect of nature for example, plants, animals, birds and trees.
“We will again be exhibiting work in many different media including paint, photography, ceramics and original drawings in order to offer people a varied and interesting range of artwork – something for everyone we hope.”
Work on display at the NeST is also showcased online at www.barnardcastlenest.co.uk and can be purchased by clicking on the thumbnail picture and following the instructions.

The gallery also offers talks and tours for any groups wanting to visit an exhibition. A new partnership with Mudfog Press includes a selection of poetry pamphlets to complement the exhibition theme.
The NeST is also a rural hub for the Middlesbrough-based Digital City Business services, which provides business support for cultural and creative businesses, including mentoring, workshops and development programmes.
There is also an award winning café based at the gallery with friendly staff and delicious hot and cold food. The NeST café was the Teesdale Business Award 2011 fastest growing business.
