GONG FOR AYCLIFFE SUPER-FAN MARTIN!

April 25th, 2012 Martin Walker Football, NAFC, Sport 1 comments 0

By Martin Walker

Aycliffe Super Fan Martin Hughes has been crowned the football club’s Supporter of the Year.

The gong, awarded to him by the official Supporters Club, was handed to him by players Dan Mellanby and Chase McMullen during last weekend’s game at home to Shildon.

The Supporters Club committee made the choice based on Martin’s dedication and enthusiasm in following the team during the season.

Supporter’s Club Secretary Yvonne Wood said: “We have all been impressed by how determined Martin has been to follow the team home and away. He has also supported the team by sponsoring a player.

“Martin is the epitome of what a Northern League supporter is all about.”

Martin was delighted to receive his engraved tankard from Mellanby and McMullen, saying it was a “great day” and that he was “overjoyed” to get the award.
