Ex-Boro player joins Aycliffe from Whitby

December 10th, 2024 Martin Walker NAFC 0 comments 0

Newton Aycliffe FC have boosted their play-off hopes with the signing of attacking midfielder Joe Gibson.

The 23-year-old joins from Whitby Town where he has impressed this season.

Manager Brian Atkinson welcomed the new recruit to the club, saying: “I am pleased that Joe has decided to join us.

“He is a versatile player, able to play in several positions and is a great addition to our squad.”

Gibson, from Chilton, came through Middlesbrough’s youth system before joining NPL Premier side Whitby Town in the summer.

He played against Aycliffe in their FA Trophy game against Whitby earlier in the season.

Following Saturday’s postponement Aycliffe’s next game is a trip to Pontefract Collieries on Saturday (December 14), followed by the visit of Sheffield to the Ashcourt Group Stadium on Saturday, December 21.

Aycliffe then travel to Dunston on Boxing Day (ko 1pm). Bishop Auckland visit Moore Lane on Monday, December 30 (ko 7:45pm).
