Club runners racing 5K to 26.2 Miles

Aycliffe Running Club runners participated in Preston Park 5K and Manchester Marathon at the weekend.

Runners enjoyed success with prizes being won at Preston Park.

Preston Park is a challenging 5km course which includes hills and trail paths. It is part of the Tees Winter Trail Series. The route takes your round the park and through the scenic woods.

First home for the club and placing 7th overall, was Peter Milburn in 00:19:48, he was followed by Richard Campbell in 00:20:01, next was Stephen Smith in 00:21:21, followed by John Burnside in 00:21:50.

First lady home for the club was Michelle Jane in 00:22:07, she was followed by Michelle Zamir in 00:22:15, Dave Blewitt in 00:22:55, Cyd Upton in 00:23:32 and Sandra Collins in 00:23:35.Then came Susan Milburn in 00:25:48, followed by David McKenzie in 00:32:53 and Ray Todd in 00:33:00.

This was the final races in the series and the overall series winners were announced. Stephen Smith was second senior male overall. Peter Milburn, Susan Milburn, Alan Wilks and Cyd Upton were also placed in their categories.

Club runners have been training hard over the winter months in preparation for Manchester Marathon.

The runners set out on a warm Manchester day over the 26.2 mile course.

First home for the club was Jason Dixon in an impressive time of 3.39.49, he was closely followed by Susan Cranswick, first female home for the club, in a speedy 3.45.43.

Next was Michelle Dixon in a time of 4.22.20, followed by Rob Nicholson in 4.46.22 and then Julie Nisbet 4.50.50.
