CHELTENHAM: TOWN TIPSTER

March 13th, 2012 Martin Walker Sport 0 comments 0

Stan James Champion Hurdle, Tuesday, 3.15pm
Zarkander (pictured), each way, 6/1 at Ladbrokes

All of the attention on the opening day will be on Willie Mullins’ Hurricane Fly as the Champion returns looking to regain his crown under the guide of Ruby Walsh.

Race fans will be putting all of their eggs in this basket in the hope of winning big to see them through the rest of the week, but 4/6 is too short for us to swallow, so we’re looking at the best of the rest for a bit of value on Aycliffe Today, and Paul Nicholls’ Zarkander sure is worthy of that acclaim.

Ridden by Daryl Jacob, this five-year-old – one of four Nicholls’ horses in the race – will be looking to step up and cause an upset on day one, following his success in last year’s Triumph Hurdle and his recent victory at Newbury in last month’s Betfair Hurdle.
