Newton Aycliffe Youth FC welcomed local MP Paul Howell to Woodham Academy to meet one of teams at an evening training sessions last week.

The Sedgefield MP was introduced to the coaches and the players, and chatted to parents.

Club Secretary Berni Borsberry was on hand to answer questions and give information about the football club.

He explained the new 3* accreditation awarded by the England FA to NAYFC as well as plans going forward to develop a disability offering with the help of Durham FA.

They chatted about the recent growth in girls’ football and the impressive 10 female teams competing in leagues every week.

“We look forward to seeing Paul Howell again in the near future,” said Berni.
