Aycliffe Running Club takes on Raby Castle and Ripon 10

Aycliffe Running Club members participated in the Raby 10k and 5k races as well as the Ripon 10 miles at the weekend.

Raby Castle race was ideal running weather, nice and bright. The race offers a lovely route on tarmac and trails through the grounds of Raby Estates.

In the 10k race, first home for the club was Martyn Knox in 42:46, he was followed by Christine Mudd in 44:11, placing 2nd in her age category, next came Sandra Collins in 48:09, placing 2nd in her age category, then Martha Mcbarron in 48:15, also placing 2nd in her age category.

Next came Dave Blewitt in 50:04, Trish Kay in 50:16, Penny Johnson in 50:50, Angela Barrett in 53:29, Lisa Dowell in 53:58, Amanda Heywood in 54:57, Rob Nicholson in 55:42, Sam Elwell in 57:13, Denise Evans in 57:35, Ian Baronowski in 1:01:00 and Susan Clark in 1:03:39, placing 2nd in her age category.

John Heywood participated in the 5k event with his two sons. Jack Heywood completed the course in 29:56, Thomas Heywood followed him in with a time of 33:15 with John also coming in with him at 33.15.

Club runners John Young and Vivianne Pow then participated in the Ripon 10 miler. This is a challenging undulating course. John was first home for the club completing the course in 1:29:54, followed by Viv in 1:36:09.
