The weekend just gone was a very quiet one for the club by way of Parkruns, and not because the icy weather had resulted in some being cancelled. It was due to the fact that this weekend was time for the Ravenstonedale 10k.

This has been a very popular race for the members of ARC over the last few years and this year was no different with the club putting on a bus due to amount that wanted to take part. It is a very picturesque but hilly race near to Kirby Steven and is also one of the races in the clubs Championship.

This year, Andy Talbot was first home for ARC (1st vet 55) in 41.16, followed by Martyn Knox 45.18, Mark Bainbridge 45.27, Susan Cranswick 46.02(1st in her age and 2nd female overall) , John Burnside 47.24, Peter Smith 47.37, Sarah Dixon 48.14, Simon Turner 48.20, Michelle Dixon 48.40 (3rd in her age cat) , Heather Morgan 49.20, Dave Blewitt 49.35, Jason Dixon 50.23, Sandra Collins 50.36 (1st in age), Trish Kay 52.02, John Richardson 54.31, Alan Kellett 55.35, Bev Phillippo 58.34, Anne Kellett 1.00.02, Ian Baronowski 1.01.03, Richard Tonge 1.01.07, Tracey Pickering 1.01.22, Kathleen Tonge 1.01.25, Lindsey Brown 1.03.23, Jane Burnside 1.06.02, Susan Clark 1.08.53, Eve Doe 1.12.24, Sam Baronowski 1.13.26, Cliff Pickering 1.14.22, Hannah Richardson 1.18.42, Helen Boyd 1.18.42 and Jan McLuckie 1,23,49.

There was first prize for the ladies team also.

Elsewhere and a little closer to home, we had four members take part in the Croft 5k. This took place on the Croft race circuit and is a relatively new race. First home for ARC was John Surtees in 16.40, followed by Tracey Surtees in 19.31, Jayne Rudd in 29.50 and Steph Colvin who completed this with her 8 year old son in 31.34.

For anyone interested in joining the club, you can simply turn up at one of our sessions all of which start from the Oakleaf Complex in Newton Aycliffe. Monday night is beginners run at 6.30pm., Tuesday is endurance/speed session from 7pm, and Thursday is a track session and this takes place at Shildon Track. Further details can be found on our website or facebook pages or alternatively you can message the club via facebook for more information.
