Another week has passed and Aycliffe Running Club continues to be active in races as we start and move towards the winter season.

On Saturday 2 November, it was the second fixture in the NYSD Cross Country taking part at Foxrush in Redcar.

This was also one where as well as having a number of runners, the club also supported with volunteers to marshal the event and making sure that everyone understood the route, whilst providing encouragement and support to everyone taking part.

In the Under 11 Boys race, Joe Dickinson (8:59), Elijah McLuckie (10:43) and Elijah Turnbull (11:45) represented the club.

In the Boys Under 13 race, Ryan Cooper (14:45) was the sole representative for the club. In the Boys Under 15 race, Luke Walker (14:05) was the sole members for the club.

In the Senior Women’s race, Bernadette Cooper (28:38), Emma Lowson (29:16), Susan Rees (34:38), Kelly Dickinson (35:59), Cath McDonnell (36:02), Melanie Varley (36:54) and Anne Kellet (39:58) all represented the club.

In the senior men’s race Matt Muir (37:02), Andrew Sedgwick (37:21), Martyn Knox (41:37), Martin Sedgwick (42:07), Thomas Heywood (49:11), Salv McDonnell (49:51) and Keith Hatton (50:13) all represented the club. In the men’s over 65 race, John Burnside (32:33) finished third with Steve Williams (33:53), Rob Nicholson (37:03) and Alan Kellett (37:15) all taking part.

On Sunday 3 November, four members travelled to Seaham to take part in the Tommy Runs and a new 10k course in operation which was undulating as well as being slightly longer than 10k.

Representing the club were Andrew Tweddle (53:02), Tamara Kirk (57:47), Brett Lambert(59:38) and Jean-Pierre Hupin (59:21).

A special mention for our Junior Section who competed in the CDAN Under 13 and Under Sports Hall competition in Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre On Sunday 3 November.

A huge well done to all the juniors (Bridget, Maisie, Charlotte, Abbie, Persephone, Jessica, Luke, Ryan, Luke and Noah) who took part in a great competition, achieving a fantastic 3rd place finish overall for the club.

On Saturday 2 November, 36 members started their weekend with a parkrun.

Sarah Gill (29:28) completed the event at Hampstead Heath for the first time. At Redcar, Bernadette Cooper (22:44) finished as first female and Cath McDonell (29:10) completed the course for the first time.

Steve Williams (26:06) and Em Flynn (31:42) both set new course PB’s with Carley Cooper (28:17) and Jean-Pierre Hupin (29:38) also taking part.
