Aycliffe Running Club round-up

It’s been another busy week for Aycliffe Running Club with the main focus, the final NYSD Cross Country meeting of the season with the relays as well as presentations.

A special mention this week for John Burnside and Cath McDonnell who finished third in the series of races, in their age categories achieving a bronze medal, which was presented after the relays.

There was a fantastic turnout from the club for the relays across all categories.

In the Under 11 boy’s race Will Allison (6:29), Joe Dickinson (6:47), Joseph Ashmore (7:13). Luke Thompson (7:15) and Elijah Turnbull (10:04) represented the club.

In the Senior Ladies race, there were five teams including Bernadette Cooper (15:11), Lucy Postle (13:34) and Sarah Gill (15:35) (total time 44:20); Michelle Scott (13:34),
Carley Cooper (16:40) and Cath McDonnell (17:02) (total time 47:16); Melanie Rowland (18:36), Viv Williams (19:24) and Em Flynn (19:13) total time (57:14); Tracey Pickering 20:04 and Christina Lambert (24:15).

In the Senior Men’s Race, there were four teams, including Adam Harker (11:58), Karl Hume (12:09), Richard Trowles (11:37) and Mikey Taylor (11:24) (Total time 47:10); Floyd Jones (12:06), Rob Young (12:23), Martin Turnbull (12:11) and Richard Holland (13:03) (Total time 49:45); Ian Payne (13:19), David Stothard (15:12), Trevor Needham (14:12) and Daniel Tatham (14:20) (Total time 57:05); Keith Hatton (16:36), Salv McDonnell (15:01), John Burnside (15:48) and Jean-Pierre Hupin (18:22) (Total time 1:05:49). There was also one incomplete team with Jimmy Agnew (13:27) representing the club.

On Saturday, March 8, 28 members started their weekend with a parkrun, taking in the, Gateshead, Sedgefield, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Cotsford Fields, Leazes, Wynyard Woodland and Thonock Lane Farm events.

At Gateshead, David Stothard (25:27) and Ian Stothard (36:24) both set a new personal bests for the course, with Steve Williams (29:17) and Viv Williams (32:19) completing the course for the first time.

At Hackworth, Mikey Taylor, finished first, setting a new personal best of 18:31. At Leazes, Sarah Gill (24:45) completed the course for the first time.

At Wynyard Woodland, Angela Sutheran (24:33) completed the course for the first time finishing as third lady.

At the same time Keith Hatton (31:50) completed the event at Thonock Farm for the first time.

On Saturday, March 16, 28 members started their weekend with a parkrun, taking in the Town Moor, Roundhay, Sedgefield, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, The Pastures, Blyth Links, Leazes, Jubilee, Talkin Tarn Country Park and Market Bosworth Country Park events.

At Roundhay, Jean Pierre Hupin (30:30), Carley Cooper (30:36) and Em Flynn (33:17) all completed the course for the first time.

At the Pastures, Paul Dalton (22:23) completed the course for the first tie, finishing second, with Jayne Rudd (34:13) also completing the course for the first time.

At Blyth Links, Viv Williams (30:56) set a new personal best for the course, with Steve Williams (33:49) completing the course for the first time.

At Leazes, Tracey Pickering (37:09) and Cliff Pickering (52:12) both completed the event for the first time.

Sandrine Hewitt completed the course at Talkin Tarn Country Park for the first time with Kathleen Tonge (32:23) and Richard Tonge (32:31) talking part at Market Bosworth for the first time.

On Saturday, March 23, 31 members started their weekend with a parkrun, taking in the Town Moor, Sedgefield, Stewart, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Potternewton, Hamsterley Forest and Wynyard Woodland events.

At Stewart Park, Richard Tonge (32:31) and Kathleen Tonge (33:16) completed the course for the first time.

At Hackworth, John Surtees (18:06) finished first with Tracey Surtees (22:28), finishing as first lady.

Over at Potternewton, three members continued with their parkrun tourism. Carley Cooper (31:01), Jean-Pierre Hupin (31:10) and Em Flynn (34:49) all completing the course for the first time.
