Aycliffe Running Club round-up

Although this last week has been a little, quieter for races, members from Aycliffe Running Club have still been busy.

This week saw members travel across the region and beyond for races this weekend.

On Sunday, three members travelled to Pocklington in Yorkshire for the Snake Lane 10.

This is a 10 mile road race held on closed roads in and around the town of Pocklington at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds. Representing the Cub were John Surtees (59:36), Tracey Surtees (1:07:03) and Robert Young (1:09:37).

On the same day, two members travelled to Castleton on the North Yorkshire Moors for the Eskdale Eureka Fell Race.

This saw runners take on a course of 14.3km with a total climb of 470 metres which obviously included a few hills. Representing the club were Richard Holland (1:34:18) and Shaun Dodd (1:43:19).

Moving further afield, two members travelled to Blackpool for the Great North West Half Marathon.

Jean-Pierre Hupin finished fifth in the men’s over 65 category in a time of 2:34:11. Em Flynn also took part despite suffering from illness on the day and in the run up to the event finishing in a time of 2:34:51. Amazing from both of them.

On Saturday, 30 members started their weekend with a parkrun, taking in the Town Moor, Prudhoe Riverside, Rickmansworth, Sedgefield, Riverside, Darlington, South Park, Hackworth, Cotsford Fields, Wynyard Woodland, Thorp Perrow and Baysgarth Park events.

At Prudhoe Riverside, Steve Williams (26:38) and Viv Williams (31:10) both completed the course for the first time.

Trevor Agnew (22:55) was the sole representative at Rickmansworth, whilst completing the course for the first time.

At Sedgefield, Richards Trowles (18:58) set a new personal best for the course finishing second. Richard Holland (21:49), David Stothard (28:01), Richard MacFarlane (28:51), Sue Podmore (29:21), Kevin Greenall (32:25), Eve Doe (34:01) and Linda McNamee (25:31) also completed the course.

At Riverside, Angela Sutheran (23:56) was the sole representative from the club whilst completing the event for the first time.

At Darlington South Park, Shaun Dodd (23:09), Judith Porter (32:27) and Ian Stothard (59:43) completed the event with Ian volunteering as tail walker.

At Hackworth, Andrew Tweddle (25:32), Bernadette Cooper (26:26), Salv McDonnell (26:53), Cath McDonnell (29:40), Kelly Dickinson (30:02) and Christina Lambert (40:23) all completing the event.

At Cotsford Fields, Paul Dalton (21:27) finished third, with Jayne Rudd (29:58) continuing with her build up towards London Marathon.

At Wynyard Woodland, Carley Cooper (28:56), Sarah Gill (28:57 and completing the event for the first time), Jean-Pierre Hupin (29:56), Em Flynn (33:22) and Hannah Richardson also completing the event for the first time (39:56) all completing the event.

At Thorp Perrow, Daniel Tatham (27:26) and Tracey Pickering (39:37) both completed the course for the first time.

Over at Baysgarth Park, Keith Hatton (27:58) completed the course for the first time.

Amazingly, this now means that Keith has completed every parkrun in the Yorkshire and Humberside region which is 65 different parkruns in total over the last nine years. What an amazing effort and everyone at the club is proud of his achievement.
