It has been a busy week for members with three very different races taking place this week.

This included some excellent running where personal bests have been achieved and even two club records were broken!

On February 5, one member took part in the Muddy Boots 10k at Ripon with Rob Young completing the course in a time of 44:51.

At the same time, five members took part in the Dewsbury 10k. This included some fantastic running from John Surtees who achieved a new personal best for the distance by finishing in a time of 33:27.

This was also a new club record for the Male 35-40 category.

Tracey Surtees also achieved a new personal best for the distance finishing in a time of 38:06. Like John, this was also new club record for the Female 35-40 category. Richard Campbell also set a new personal best for a 10k in the race, finishing in an excellent time of 36:26. Kevin Tatham (47:36) and Kirsty Cameron (58:40) also took part in the race.

Also taking place on the same day was Race 5 in the North Yorkshire South Durham Harrier Cross Country League at the Old Race Couse in Richmond.

In the Senior Women’s race Lauryn (31:26), 39:08 Melanie Rowland (39:08), 40:28 Kelly Dickinson (40:28) represented the club.

In the Senior Men’s race 00:43:39 Richard Holland (43:39), Martin Turnbull (43:57), Gareth Hamblin (47:59), 48:44 Martyn Knox (48:44), Shaun Dodd (49:32) ,Dave Blewitt (51:09) and David Stothard (1:00:03) represented the club.

In the men’s over 65 race Trevor Needham came second in a time of 30:13. In the Men’s over 70 race, Kevin Greenall continued his impressive form winning in a time of 38:47.

On Saturday, February 4, 18 members started their weekend with a parkrun taking in the Sedgefield, Stewart Park, Darlington South Park, Hackworth and Hartlepool events.

At Hartlepool Sarah Gill completed the course for the first time finishing in a time of 24:47.

On January 31, a total of 28 members started their weekend with a parkrun.

That included an Aycliffe Running Club takeover at Hamsterley Forest, where 20 members took part.

Richard Campbell finished first in a time of 21:11, Matt Muir (21:44) who was second, Tracey Surtees (21:57) who was third and also first female and Floyd Jones (22:00) who was fourth.

It was amazing to see so many members turn out for the event with the intention of this becoming a regular occurrence during the year and carrying out with some parkrun tourism across the region.

If you are interested in joining the club, you can turn up for one of our sessions.
