Aycliffe Running Club round-up

By Paul Dalton

We start this week with a look back at the Fox and Hounds Chase Fell Race, which took place on Sunday, May 15.

Shaun Dodd was the club’s sole representative in the race, completing the tough 9 mile-ish course in 1:51.33.

On Wednesday, May 18, David Stothard competed in the Saltburn 5K Trail Race, hosted by Muddy Roads. David crossed the line in 28:37.

As usual, Saturday morning played host to parkrun events up and down the country, and members of Aycliffe Running Club could be found at events at Darlington South Park, Exeter Riverside, Hackworth, Hartlepool, Herrington, Jubilee, Sedgefield, Stewart Park and the Town Moor.

At Sedgefield parkrun, Richard MacFarlane ran a new Personal Best (PB) for the course, finishing in 26:01, whilst John Heywood celebrated running his 250th parkrun – a fantastic achievement!

Richard Tonge was also celebrating an unofficial parkrun milestone at Sedgefield, completing his 150th parkrun.

At Hackworth parkrun, Daniel Tatham also completed a parkrun milestone, as he finished his 50th parkrun event, whilst Clare Strading recorded a new PB for the event, running the undulating course in 26:40.

Stuart Joyce travelled to Stewart parkrun in Middlesbrough, and ran his fastest time on that course, crossing the line in 31:11.

Meanwhile, at the Darlington South Park event, Shelley McCormack was setting another PB for that event, finishing in 26:03.

Finally, an honourable mention goes out to Nici Ingman, who registered her first sub-30 minute 5K run on her first visit to the Hartlepool parkrun event, finishing in 29:52.
