Aycliffe Running Club Race Report

June 7th, 2017 Martin Walker Sport 0 comments 0

Runners from Aycliffe took part in the second Summer Tees Trail 5k races at Tees Barrage.

This was an interesting venue with a lot going on including kayaking and people just out walking enjoying the evening sunshine.

The course entailed one lap around the Tees Barrage area before heading off towards Middlesbrough so far, then returning through the woods to complete one more lap around Tees Barrage.

First home for the club was Dez Fielden (pictured below), who finished 2nd overall in a time of 18:15 and 1st in his age category of male over 45. He was followed by Dave Blewitt, 36th in 21:39; John Burnside, 45th in 21:59 and 1st in his category of male over 60 and Peter Smith, 46th in 22:01. First female home for the club was Trish Kay in 77th position in 25:27, followed by Susan Clark, 129th in 31:22 and Ray Todd, 139th in 33:19.

On May 29, four club runners took part in the Whitsun Wynyard Trail. First back for the club was Dez Fielden in 42.28, and 18th overall; next Peter Milburn in 44.12 , placing him 23rd overall and 1st in his age category of over 55; the Dave Blewitt in 49.31 in 55th position and Sue Milburn (pictured, top) in 57.54 and 89th overall and placing 1st in her age category of female over 55.

Sue Milburn also competed in the Penshaw Hill Monument race on 31 May. She was the only Aycliffe club runner competing in this very tough event. She placed 61st and 1st in her age category of female over 50, in a time of 26.33.

Aycliffe Running Club’s annual 10K race and fun run takes place on Sunday 18 June. Entries are open and selling out fast. Find out more and sign up at www.ayclifferunningclub.org.uk/
