Aycliffe runners compete at Edinburgh Marathon Festival

June 1st, 2018 Martin Walker Sport 0 comments 0

Donna Campbell brings you the latest news from Aycliffe Running Club…

Several Aycliffe runners made the journey to Edinburgh to take part in several races as part of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival last weekend.

The festival is split over two days with a 5k and 10k taking place on the Saturday and the Half Marathon and Marathon taking place on the Sunday.

On the Saturday we had three members taking part in the 5k race. This included two of our junior members. This is not an easy 5k course as the first part of the course takes you up Arthur’s Seat.

Sarah Dixon completed this in 26.03, closely followed by Caleb Nicholson in 26.12 and Rob Nicholson in 26.23.

On Sunday Ste Sutheran and Angela Sutheran (pictured above) took part in the Half Marathon. Ste completed this in 1.29.45 and Angela in 1.48.49.

In relation to the marathon this was run by the following members: Jason Dixon 3:48:35, Rob Nicholson 3:53:57, Michelle Dixon 4:00.58, Michael Brunskill 4:29:42 and Richard Tonge in 5:15:49

Elsewhere four members took place in the Melmerby 10k – an undulating course close to Ripon.

Paul Dalton completed this in 43.25, Stuart Joyce 43.54, Michael Lloyd 49.43 and Carrieanne Ingledew in 1:24.:00. Carrieanne also chalked up a PB at Chester-le-Street Parkrun the day before in a time of 36.35.
