Aycliffe players recognised after historic title win

May 16th, 2023 Martin Walker NAFC 0 comments 0

Newton Aycliffe FC’s jubilant players were recognised for their historic promotion-winning season as plans get under way for the new campaign.

It was confirmed by the FA this week that Aycliffe will start the 2023-24 season in the Northern Premier League Division One East after winning the Ebac Northern League first division.

The Newtonians will join five other teams who, until recently, were in the Northern League – Ashington, Consett, Dunston, Hebburn Town and Stockton Town.

However, they will also be clocking up the miles to visit places such as Belper, Grantham, Cleethorpes and Sheffield.

Aycliffe’s players, management and supporters enjoyed their end-of-season presentation night at Newton Aycliffe Sports Club at the weekend.

Aaron Brown and Ethan Wood (pictured above) shared the Player of the Year trophy, while Dan Myers picked up the Young Player of the Year award.

Top goalscorer Liam Jarvie was voted Supporters Player of the Year and Ethan Wood also won the Players’ Player of the Year award.

It’s an exciting time for Aycliffe as they move into the Northern Premier League for the first time in their history.

Preparations have already begun for the new season with works under way at Moore Lane – and season tickets now on sale.

The club is offering an early bird discount for tickets bought before June 30.

Season tickets can be bought for £135 (adults), £95 (concessions) and £45 (juniors).

There are also family packages available. Full details can be found on the club’s website at newtonaycliffefc.co.uk.
