Aycliffe boys do well in Auckland Castle fun run

September 3rd, 2017 Martin Walker Sport 0 comments 0

Isaac Boys and Caleb Wren from Aycliffe Running Club Junior section joined about 70 others for the Auckland Castle two-mile fun run at the end of August.

The hilly route started at the Robinson Arch, past the Walled Garden, into the park and over to the obelisk where the runners turned and headed back to finish in the grounds of the Castle.

Caleb and Isaac ran well on the challenging, trail terrain. Caleb finished seventh position in 14:50 followed closely by Isaac who finished eighth in 14:50:23.

Meanwhile, the penultimate event in the Summer Tees Trail series of 5k races took place at Pinchinthorpe in August, with two members of Aycliffe Running Club took part in this. This is a good one lap course and once you get to the top of the hill it’s practically all down-bank.

Dez Fielden was first home for the club in the excellent time of 18:18, followed by John Burnside, who placed first in his age category of male over 60 and 44th overall in a time of 21:39.
