Newton Aycliffe return to Moore Lane looking to secure only their second home victory of the campaign against a Whitley Bay side that are fast becoming the league’s ‘entertainers’.

Bay – managed by defender Leon Ryan – sit in mid table after a topsy-turvy start to the season, which has seen their 10 league games average five goals at a time.

Ryan has a strong squad at his disposal as he looks to avenge last season’s reverse in the corresponding fixture, including evergreen top scorer Paul Chow and fans fave Paul Robinson, who re-signed for the club from Blyth Spartans earlier in the week.

Aycliffe thought they had the perfect tonic to their disappointing start last week when they won 1-0 at Billingham Synthonia, but took a heavy blow in midweek as they crashed 3-0 at Newcastle Benfield, a side in the bottom three.

Richard Langthorne sits out the second game of a four game ban, so Liam Clough will again partner Dan Mitton at centre half. Boss Allan Oliver has managed to bolster his ranks this week however with the eye-catching signing of powerful Spennymoor Town midfielder Richard Archer on loan.

24-year-old forward Chris Dickinson – formerly with Darlington, York City and Boston United – also comes into contention following his acquisition this week, with Northallerton and Whitby recent stop offs on his footballing footprint.
