Aycliffe aiming to build on unbeaten start

August 11th, 2017 Martin Walker NAFC 0 comments 0

Newton Aycliffe are hoping to build on their promising unbeaten start to the season at home to Guisborough Town this weekend.

The Newtonians are due to entertain Town in the Northern League first division at Moore Lane Park on Saturday (3pm) after getting the 2017-18 season off to a winning start in the FA Cup last weekend.

Aycliffe beat Chester-le-Street 2-1 to earn a preliminary round tie at Albion Sports on August 19.

And the Blues earned a point at home to Ashington in their first league game of the new campaign on Tuesday night.

Kurt Matthews had given Aycliffe the lead after just 10 minutes, but Ben Harmison equalised for Ashington in the 85th minute to earn a share.

Guisborough, who narrowly avoided relegation from the first division last season after finishing 20th, suffered a 9-0 hammering at West Auckland Town on Tuesday night.

Kick-off on Saturday is 3pm, with admission £6 adults and £4 concessions.
