30 candidates for 23 seats as 7 town councillors are elected uncontested

April 28th, 2021 Martin Walker News 0 comments 0

Thirty candidates will battle it out for 23 seats on Aycliffe Town Council in next week’s local elections.

But seven councillors are already warming their seats in the council chamber after their nominations passed uncontested.

In the Woodham ward for Great Aycliffe Town Council, there’ll be no election next Thursday, with Barbara Clare (Labour), Neil Collinson (Labour), Sandra Haigh (Independent), John Moore (Independent), Maureen Shelton (Lib Dems) and Michael Stead (Lib Dems) all automatically being elected.

And Carl Robinson will become an Independent councillor for Aycliffe Village after his nomination was also uncontested.
