The Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club scoreboard from last weekend’s double weekend of fixtures…
Saturday 30th May – NYSD Division 2

Marske 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 
weather was dry and Sunny. Marske won the toss and asked Aycliffe to bat first.
 
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 120 all out after 36.3 overs.
Colin Myers 34 not out, Michael Howe 24 and John Cavanagh 16
Marske 121 for 7 after 31.2 overs
John Cavanagh 4 for 29 
 
Aycliffe lost a close game by just three wickets away at Marske, all rounder John Cavanagh (sponsored by CVO Fire) was man of the match. Aycliffe batted poorly, but at least they made the homeside fight for their runs as Aycliffe bowled and fielded well. However Aycliffe have now lost ground on the the leaders and have 124 points from 9 games and drop to 4th place in the 2nd division table.
Saturday 30th May – NYSD Division 3
 
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Preston 1st XI – weather was dry and sunny. Preston won the toss and asked Aycliffe to bat first.
 
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – 99 all out after 43.3 overs
Adam Gittins 41, Tom Wickins 11 and Trevor Shingler 11
Preston 100 for 5 after 21.3 overs
Tom Wickins 2 for 17 and Patrick Howe 2 for 31
 
The 2nd team lost at home to Preston by 5 wickets. Captain Adam Gittins (sponsored by Pheonix Energy) was the man of the match for the highest innings of the day scoring a seasonal best score of 41.
 
Aycliffe now have 79 points from 9 games and sit in 11th place in the NYSD 3rd division.

Saturday 6th June at 1.00pm – NYSD Division 2 – Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Seaton Carew 2nd XI
