Youthy Football round-up

November 27th, 2022 Martin Walker Youth Football 0 comments 0

By Berni Borsberry

The heavy rain leading up to the weekend caused many games to be postponed across all the leagues, however the investment into the Oakleaf Pitches from our Football Foundation grant allowed games to go ahead…

U14 Girls 3 v 0 Darlington Locos (Cup game)
The girls were on top form, with a full squad, they all played their part in a well-deserved win, from front to back they played with determination and courage. The Aycliffe girls dominated the game and really played for each other. Into the quarter finals we go.

U13 Angels 16 v 0 Foundation of Light (Cup game)
Cup game against a team from Division 1. We rotated players regularly around positions.
10 different players scored today with all players giving great performances. Stars: Freyja & Julia. Goals: Romilly (3), Hannah (3), Sara (2), Freyja (2), Layken, Evie, Isobel, Sophie, Poppy & Erin. Onto the next round

Swallwell v u10 Eagles
A much tighter game this week for the 10’s. The opposition played much quicker which affected how we played our game, we struggled to find a consistent rhythm. We managed to create a few chances, unfortunately we just couldn’t find the final pass accurately enough. Oliver equalised just before half time, but we got caught out twice after. Not a bad performance, but we can definitely play better.
U9 Eagles v Stockton Town

Aycliffe Eagles U/9 had a brilliant end to end match against Stockton Town on Sunday morning. Eagles were passing the ball really well from back to front and scored some fantastic team goals. Todays scorers were George D x2, Floyd R, Will A and Harry M.
Under 10 Girls v Washington
Another great game from the girls and a well-deserved win. The girls put 100% effort in and you can see improvement in them every week. Aycliffe had a comfortable lead at half time. And despite Washington adding an 8th Player (powerplay), it didn’t stop the girls dominating all areas of the pitch in the 2nd half and getting an emphatic victory POTM Lily Goals: PoppyH x1 Phoebe x5 EmilyC x1 Amelia x2 PoppyB x2 Lily x

Beamish Thunder 3 v 0 U12 Girls (Cup game)
Aycliffe were drawn against one of the top Premier League teams in the second round of the cup, but went into this fixture with the same confidence and team spirit the girls have shown since the season began. The team put in a heroic effort to keep the score line to a minimum under a relentless battering, and came off the pitch happy and proud of their performance.
Managers Star Player: Lily Players Star Players: Maddi V
