A round-up from Aycliffe Youthy action last week…

U13 Angels 14 v 1 Bishop Girls (Cup)
A win in this third-round match means we now play Hetton in the semi final. The girls put on a dominant display with 8 different goal scorers. A hat-trick for both Romilly & Faith. Goals also for Poppy, Isobel, Charli, Sophie, Hannah and a goal from distance for Freyja. Star players Poppy & Faith

U11 Wildcats v Wrekenton Nou Camp
The girls were superb from start to finish. After 10 mins we scored when Olivia played to Phoebe to turn and pass to Lucy who drove a great strike past their keeper. They equalised just before half time. Then a cross by Lucy was turned in by Olivia and Evie scored the final goal after Lucy’s shot was parried by their keeper. FT 3-1

U13 Girls 3 v 2 Washington
First match in 11 weeks the team were champing at the bit to get going. We raced into a 2 goal lead with goals from Ava and Amy. We lost control of the game with 10 minutes to play and found ourselves level at 2-2. With 2 minutes remaining Amy scored her second to secure a valuable and well deserved victory. FT 3-2.

U13 Boys 6 v 1 Prissick Rovers
A tight 1st half, but James scored late on, only to be pegged back with a penalty. Second half was much more open, whilst it wasn’t a vintage performance, once the lads got back in the groove they came out winners. James bagging a 2nd, 2 for Evan & 1 each for both Oliver & Charlie. James & Zak picked up Parents & Coaches

U14 Girls 2 v 3 Pools Youth
The Aycliffe girls dominated play against a very physical team. Aycliffe scored 2 very good goals from brilliant team play. Pools scored from an indirect free kick in the first half and two penalties in the second half, meaning they took home the points. Onwards and upwards for the Aycliffe girls.POTM- Safiye Goals – Chloe F & Demi Lee

Whitburn Panthers 4 v 2 U14 Eagles
An evenly matched game with one team taking their chances in front of goal. Great football played in spells but just didn’t happen for the lads. A great game of football to watch. Well done to Noah and James on their debut games for the team, fantastic performances from both. Goals from Olly and Adam, MOM Olly

U10 Girls v Bishop Pinks
Back to winning ways for the girls, starting off strong with a Phoebe cross to Amelia scoring within the first minute of kick off. The next goal came from a throw in from the halfway line taken by Lily to find PoppyB with a touch, she shot from 30yards, 2-0. Just before half time PoppyB crossed the ball into the box to Phoebe who scored. With Daisy making important saves 3-0

Hetton Jnrs 0v1 U12 Girls
It’s been a while since the team faced a battle like this. The girls threw everything they had at Hetton throughout the 60 minutes but unfortunately the chances just didn’t seem to drop. From start to end both teams gave as good as they got and were only separated by an unstoppable shot 5 minutes from time .MOTM: Marley

U14 Girls(Sunday) 1 v 2 Whickham Fellside (Cup)
A really close match. Absolutely brilliant to watch and so exciting. The team found themselves 2-0 down inside 10 minutes but responded brilliantly. Amy won a first half penalty which Evie P converted. We threw everything at them in the second half, but couldn’t find a goal. Star players: Charli & Saf.

Barnard Castle v U8 Eagles
Another friendly to prepare for the start of the Spring season. The Eagles found themselves up against tough opponents in Barnard Castle but they matched them in every department. All of the boys really put everything into the match today and worked really hard. Over three games of 20 mins the boys ran out overall winners, with one or two stand out goals as well.

Under 6 Eagles (boys) and Under 7 Wildcats (girls)
Our 2 newest teams are preparing for friendlies, leading to joining the league in September 2023. The boys and girls have been working well in training, but we still have a couple of places left in each team.
