Woodham’s More Able Academy introduces after-school English classes

February 7th, 2018 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Students with a passion for their subject are taking part in the latest programme of extra-curricular activities at Woodham Academy.

The Enrichment Programme, introduced by the school’s More Able Academy, is continuing with after-school English classes.

The programme, introduced last term in the Art department, is the latest addition to Woodham Academy’s extensive range of extra-curricular activities and enables students to explore a subject in more depth.

The English programme, for Year 8 students, began with a workshop on the importance of the subject and its relevance to everyday life, with a taster of studying English at university.

Students will go on to research an area of interest, develop a presentation and then share their findings at a presentation evening.

Teacher Ellesha Gray said: “These sessions for literature enthusiasts provide students with the opportunity to explore their interest and encourage them to develop their passion for English, while preparing them for success in their GCSEs.”

Woodham says its enrichment programme then be offered for other subjects.
