Woodham students get youngsters into golf

July 29th, 2016 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Woodham Academy students have been helping youngsters get into golf.

A group of Year 9 and 10 leadership students successfully carried out a Tri Golf event at the Oakleaf Leisure Centre, engaging with seven primary schools from across the town.

It was part of Woodham’s Leadership Academy, a joint initiative between the school and Tony Blair Sports Foundation, which provides the opportunity for students to not only gain nationally accredited sports qualifications but also the chance to gain invaluable volunteering and coaching experience.

Tri golf is a popular and successful initiative that is aimed at younger students, giving them an opportunity to be introduced to golf.

The young leaders proved that their leadership and communication skills had improved and were vital in the organisation of the event.

The Woodham Academy students ensured that the primary school pupils had a highly enjoyable and fun day.
