Woodham ranked in top 30% of North-East schools

October 26th, 2018 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Woodham Academy has been well placed in the Department for Education latest league tables, showing school performance in England.

For the second consecutive year, Woodham Academy is high up in all recognised statistics, including the benchmark measure of Progress 8, highlighted by its position as the best school locally and within the top 30% of schools in the North East of England.

More than 60% of students gained a pass grade for both English and maths, including six grade 9’s, which is recognised as only being achieved by the top 2% of students in the country.

Other successes included a fabulous set of GCSE art results, where 40% of students gained the top grades of 7-9.

Headteacher Christine Forsyth said: “The results demonstrate the hard work from students and teachers.

“We pride ourselves on offering a broad and balanced curriculum at Woodham Academy and you can see from the results in all subjects that the education provided here is consistently good in all areas.

“This is all helped by the excellent relationships that staff have with both students and parents.”

The results support the findings of the most recent Ofsted report (May 2018) where inspectors found all areas of the school to be ‘good’.

Recent events at the school for prospective year 7 students have been very popular and large numbers are anticipated to enrol for September 2019.

If any parents or students within Year 6 would like to arrange a visit to Woodham Academy before the application deadline of 31st October, please contact 01325 300328.
