Volunteering is a recipe for success for community café!

September 15th, 2021 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

A Newton Aycliffe charity is aiming to relaunch its once popular community café.

The Pioneering Care Centre, based at Cobblers Hall in Aycliffe, refurbished and rebranded the coffee shop in 2019 as the Garden Kitchen.

Now the PCP wants to get the Garden Kitchen back to pre-pandemic popularity – but needs a team of volunteers to offer their support.

PCP chief executive Carol Gaskarth said: “The Garden Kitchen is welcoming and busy community café offering a place to unwind and relax for people who use the centre.

“Volunteers are at the heart of PCP’s activities and services, and The Garden Kitchen is often described as the heart of the Pioneering Care Centre.

“We’re looking for people to help us to maintain and develop this service and providing a relaxing and friendly space to connect with each other.”

The Garden Kitchen currently operates on a Monday and Wednesday from 11am until 1pm, and serves up a selection of savoury and sweet treats, hot and cold drinks, and more.
